Rebels appoint Rod Macqueen as new coach

Rod MacqueenFormer Australian coach Rod Macqueen has come out of retirement to be the new Head Coach of the Melbourne Rebels in 2011's Super 15. Macqueen signed a three-year contract with new Chief Executive Brian Waldron on Wednesday, saying he had been reinvigorated by the potential he saw in the new franchise.

Macqueen appointed Damien Hill as the team’s assistant coach. Hill will depart his post as Head Coach at the Sydney University Rugby Club to take up the role. Hill has led the Sydney club to the last three premierships in Sydney’s Shute Shield, widely recognised as Australia’s leading first grade rugby union competition.
